Ever since earning my certification in personal training in ’95 I’ve been looking to utilize effective exercises and minimal fitness equipment to both train clients and stay in shape myself. With the functional training revolution in recent years and emerging products like the TRX Suspension Trainer I’ve finally found my “one-two punch” for fitness. The TRX offers over 300 bodyweight-based functional exercises  within a single, lightweight and portable station and it’s empowered me to not only have flexibility to train clients in a variety of settings but also allows me to maintain my own fitness regimen regardless of my time constraints or travel demands.

As much as I’ve come to enjoy challenging myself through Suspension Training with the TRX System, it’s been a real treat to show others how to do the same. Last weekend I held a TRX workshop for people who were new to TRX as well as those who owned a TRX but weren’t quite sure how to use it. As we went through several exercise progressions I could see light bulbs going off and my students were picking it up quickly. Since my time is often limited, TRX has enabled me to do periodic check-up sessions with clients to:

1) ensure they are still doing exercises correctly

2) add to or change their program to keep them challenged and seeing results

This has been a great way to give 1-on-1 instruction to clients with minimal sessions to keep them on track. Another benifit to my clients is that as they learn to help themselves and they become proficient with TRX, their monetary investment stays nice and low as well. In fact, several clients have quit their gym memberships all together just as I did which is saving them time and money while they still get in great workouts and achieve their goals of improving strength, stamina, balance; coordination, weight loss and sports performance.

I plan to do more TRX workshops this year to help others get familiar and acclimated to Suspension Training with TRX. There are so many upsides to using TRX and it’s a pleasure to help others harness the versatiity and effectiveness Suspension Training provides.

Most of my TRX workshops are held in the Los Angeles area but with my frequent travel I’m available in the Mammoth Lakes and Stockton areas from time to time. If you are in any of these areas and are looking for someone to personally work with you on the TRX System, please just send me a note through my website, www.VirtualWorkoutPartner.com and we’ll set something up for you.
